How you will contribute to our success
Your primary role is to address the business-critical need for legacy structure refactoring and further enhancement of processes and features. You will play a pivotal role in elevating our technical capabilities, ensuring that we scale our SaaS product efficiently, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. This is a highly visible position in which you will make a substantial impact on Smoobu’s technical foundation and future growth.

You will:
  • Directly partner with Product and senior leadership to define and lead technical strategy that drives product innovation, business growth, and platform evolution, in full alignment with the company’s vision and goals.
  • Lead the platform’s architectural evolution from a monolithic system to a service-oriented design.
  • Optimize engineering delivery practices by implementing scalable processes and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, balancing hands-on involvement in technical decisions and architectural design with strategic oversight.
  • Lead team building and hiring to strengthen the engineering organization, while fostering an inclusive, motivated, and high-performing culture that drives retention and growth.
  • Champion engineering best practices (architecture, reliability, security, scalability), and ensure the team stays current with evolving industry technologies and methodologies.

You will thrive in this role if you
  • Bring a strong technical foundation in software engineering, system design, and architecture, with at least 5 years of leading multi-team engineering organizations.
  • Have experience in SaaS companies
  • Have hands-on experience driving architectural transformation from monolithic to service-oriented or microservices-based systems
  • Combine technical leadership with business acumen — navigating trade-offs thoughtfully to deliver value fast, while ensuring the platform remains scalable, maintainable, and technically sound. 
  • Demonstrate expertise in Test-Driven Development (TDD), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and scalable design patterns that promote reliability and maintainability.
  • Have experience with Cloud platforms and backend/frontend development, including PHP and JavaScript frameworks.
  • Are a proactive mentor and team leader, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous technical growth.
  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments, building on a strong and motivated team to strengthen processes, elevate engineering excellence, and drive ambitious business growth.
